The mission of United Citizens Bank is to be a locally owned community bank serving our customers by offering and delivering quality financial services at competitive rates. We are committed to active community involvement. We will strive to maintain financial soundness and stability while providing shareholders a reasonable return on their investment.
Foremost, the Board recognizes, understands and appreciates its roots! The Board is firmly entrenched in the first sentence of the Mission Statement “… To be a locally owned community bank…”. We have little desire to be affiliated with an institution where customers and employees become numbers and community is no longer of value. Our Board, by choice, lives in, interacts with and cares for the communities we serve. It
chooses to remain locally owned.
Although our motto, “Rooted in Service”, alludes to the past and how we got here, it also alludes to our mission. Within this vision to serve the communities of our area we want to ensure our products and services are what is needed, of the quality, and of value to our customers. We will continue our efforts of community development.
We have the duty to ensure that shareholders receive a reasonable return on their investment. We can accomplish that without being extremists. We don’t have to be the biggest, the highest priced, nor the cheapest. We can justly reward shareholders by offering quality products, making the right decisions, and following prudent procedures.
In summary, the Board’s vision mirrors our Mission. Adherence to the fundamentals of our mission will result in remaining the bank "Rooted in Service."

“Citizens Bank” at Port Royal was formed in 1891 with capital stock of $15,000.00. M. B. Perry was elected President. He was succeeded by his son, H. E. Perry, who would see this bank consolidate with “Citizens Bank of New Castle ” in 1935 to become “Citizens Bank.” H. E. Perry occupied the office of President of the combined institutions for 58 years.
The same year as the Citizens Bank merger, The "Bank of Campbellsburg" which was established in 1889, joined with the "Farmers Bank of Turners Station" to become "United Farmers Bank." Both United Farmers Bank and Citizens Bank continued to serve the needs of Henry County residents and be active participants in county growth for many years.
In 1975, the Board of Directors of both institutions recognized the potential gain for shareholders and customers that another merger would bring. After careful consideration and planning, the two banks merged to become what we have today -
